Question Type: Array with text box behind each labels table
Written by LuK123 the 14 Jul 10 at 16:36. Global category: Question types. New
Hello,

we use your program in our company. We are working on a project and need some assistance with a specific question type.

We use an array(Yes/No). But we need behind of each column (labels table) a text box, in order to make some notes, or to justify each answer wether "yes" or "no".

Is it possible that you create such a question type for us?

Cheers

Would like to be able to have one or more answer options forced to the top or to the bottom of an otherwise randomized list of answers.

Example:

What brands have you tried?
- My brand (FORCE TO TOP OF LIST)
- Brand c
- Brand a
- Brand b
- Other _______ (FORCE TO BOTTOM OF LIST)
- None of these (FORCE TO BOTTOM OF LIST)

Notes attached to questions
Written by Antongrau the 22 Jun 10 at 16:47. Global category: Question types. New
Often you want to let others review your work or you want to leave messages for yourself or others close to the questions that you work on.

Now you have to keep notes in a different document and that document is not necessarily updated.

Solution #1: A Comment feature or a "review" mode
Written by Antongrau the 22 Jun 10 at 16:47.
A small feature would be a "Comment"/"Notes" button next the "Edit question" button. That button opens a window that lets you write a small note in plain text, that is attached to the question.

In the "Surveys" menu there could be a feature that gave you all the notes on one screen, with each question.

A better feature would be a "review" mode instead of a "test" mode. This feature would allow reviewers to add small comments (and view existing comments) when they test the survey.

The notes would of course not be visible when the survey was active.

label for the "non mandatory" option
Written by vs_arni the 28 Sep 09 at 15:36. Related project: 1.x all. New
Hi, I think it will be useful to have the possibility to change the label for the "non mandatory" option.

i.e.
Which party will you vote next sunday?

2 Party 2
3 Party 3
1 Party 1
...
10 Party 10
(in random order)

11 Don't vote/Don't know/Don't answer
(this is the "non mandatory" option with a changed label)

Regards,
Arnaldo.

Display incomplete surveys
Written by tringate the 21 May 10 at 01:23. Related project: 1.x all. New
Surveys can be incomplete for basically two reasons.
- The responder saved the survey for later completion
- The responder simply left the survey without finishing it.

The first can be displayed from the primary survey tool bar, the second can only be found by looking through all the surveys for those not yet completed but this also shows those saved for later completion.

"Others" Answer Options in Arrays...
Written by lucafri the 11 May 10 at 15:01. Related project: 1.x all. New
In an Array, like in the multiple choice question, is of vital interest to have the possibility of others answer options further the fixed answer options...
So can the person that give the answer:
1) insert free text in the option "other"
2) give an evaluation based on the defined label set

In addition to No Answer, there should be a Bullshit! option
Written by eckes the 16 Nov 09 at 08:53. Global category: Question types. New
We have the policy for important surveys, that you can skip each question with an Bullshit! option, meaning the question is manipulative or the answer possibilities to not allow to express a neutral oppinion. It is like the "No Answer" option.

The problem is, I can use the Bullshit options in some answer types with no problems as an additional option (lists), but in some Answer types it is really hard to do (think Ranking or Numeric Input).

Since the statistics are also affected, and it would be good to set a condition on this (show reason input textfield if any question was answered with Bullshit) and since I like to display a "use with caution" reminder it is good to have this as an globbal extra attribute to each answer type.

Abilty to set time limits to fill in a survey

Solution #1: Time Limit for every Question type/whole survey
Written by rom the 17 Nov 11 at 11:36.
Currently we can only set up time limits for Text Questions at the advanced settings. It would be great to have a time limit option for every Question Type (e.g. Radio lists, Multiple Choice).

Also, it may be useful to have an option to create a Time Limit for the whole survey. There are a lot of quiz szenarios, in which it is not important to limit the time for specific questions, but instead have a time limit to fill in the whole survey.

Override Array Header Setting
Written by asonimie the 15 Dec 11 at 17:28. Global category: Question types. New
Currently the array headers will repeat according to a global setting. It would be helpful if needed that the global setting could be overridden for a advanced setting on the question itself. If nothing is entered on the question it will go by the default.

Solution #1: Override Array Header Setting
Written by asonimie the 15 Dec 11 at 17:28.
Have a check box in the advanced settings for array questions that allows to define unique repeating settings for that question. The user would then enter the number of rows that it would like the header to repeat.

Similar to checking an exclusive option on Multiple Choice questions and then entering the Answer Code.

If the box is not checked, the headers repeat according to the global settings.

Implement Range Question as Dual Slider

Solution #1: Create a New Question Type, use jqueryui slider
Written by tacman1123 the 31 Mar 11 at 15:15.
While the data structure for making this a single question would likely be the same, the UI could look like a range slider:

http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/range.html

So instead of creating the question "How much would you be willing to pay for this product?" as a multi-numeric input with two subquestions "Min" and "Max" and having those show up as two fields, the UI could be represented like this.

Some questions you might want to use in different questionnaires. e.g. some standardized questions for socio-demographics, etc.

It should be easy to save questions in a kind of library, from where you can easily implement them to a new questionnaire.

MaxDiff / Best Worst Scaling question type / functionality
Written by jelo the 9 Dec 09 at 09:38. Related project: 1.x all. New
Question type similar to a DualScale question type.

Difference is that you that you are not allowed to choose the same item on both scales.

Simple example would be : First scale "most important", second scale "least important". Now you show different items to choose from. With a dual scale question type it would be possible to choose the same item as "most important" AND "least important" which wouldn't allow to apply the MaxDiff method.

Solution #2: Small modification of 'Array (flexible labels) by column' questions
Written by lemeur the 3 Jan 10 at 13:59.
MaxDiff question is in fact a specific version of Array (flexible labels) by column:
* answers are "Makes me Most want to reenlist" and "Makes me Least want to reenlist"
* Labels are "Time off each week allowed for on-line college coursework", "Receive in-person personal counseling services", ...

Now for the new things (switchable by a question attribute):
* a new layout: display answers between the two columns
* a small javascript that prevents using the "Next/Commit" button if the same "Label" is used for the two "Answers"

Sometimes error and help messages could be improved
Written by lovepade the 16 May 11 at 11:02. Global category: Question types. New
Often I find that the standard error message is to generic for a specific question I am asking. As an example I am right now asking for the respondents email adress, using a short text field with a simple reg-ex validator.

I don't want to show an elaborate "help" message as default because 90% will just write their email (or not). But if somebody writes e.g. "myname @gmail.com", the reg-ex kicks in an an error pops out. The standard error is something like "Please answer all questions correctly". But in this case, the respondent might be confused because he thinks he answered correctly. It was by accident that he put in an extra whitespace. in "myname @gmail.com".

Solution #1: New "Error text" option for each question
Written by lovepade the 16 May 11 at 11:02.
Just like each question now have a "help text" field, each question could have an error message field.

If I enter txt in the "error message" field then this error is shown instead of the generic answer.

For the email example above I would e.g. write something like this: "When you enter your email adress we perform a simple check to see if the email adress is entered correctly. You'd be suprised how many people accidently put e.g. an empty space (like this: " ") or forgets the "@". It seems you made a small mistake like this? please correct it (or simply delete your answer and move on)

Solution #2: Option to only show "help" txt on error
Written by lovepade the 16 May 11 at 11:04.
This is not as fine grained as solution #1, but maybe easier to implement:

Add a checkbox next to the existing help message field. If checked the help message will only get shown on errors.

Password text
Written by tfj the 9 Nov 09 at 14:30. Related project: 1.x all. New
In response to suggestions regarding my forum post #33698, I am requesting the following feature:

I would like to see an attribute for the short free text question type textbox for entering a password. Instead of seeing the password, the user would see a character such as a "dot" or an asterisk.

Thank you!

Solution #1: Short textbox attribute
Written by tfj the 9 Nov 09 at 14:30.
I think an attribute choice of "password entry" for the short free text question type would work. If you wanted to get fancier, you could give the developer a choice of characters that would appear instead of the password, but this would not be necessary.

Adding subtitles or breaks between sub-questions of a long array-type question
Written by sociolog the 8 Sep 10 at 03:58. Related project: 1.x all. New
When we are dealing with array-type questions that have many subquestions (long Likert-type scales), it would be a good idea to group the subquestions into logical categories (e.g. if it is a scale about satisfaction with job with 20 subquestions, the first five are about the payment, the next five are about job conditions, the next four are about relationships etc), and these categories' titles should be visible to the respondent as a row between the groups of subquestions. The survey designer may also want to use breaks instead of titles to separate these groups of subquestions of the same array question. This solution would improve the look and maybe even validity of scales with many subquestions, since the respondent would be able to mentally group these subquestions, and they would not seem so many when grouped.

Solution #1: modify the "edit subquestions" menu
Written by sociolog the 8 Sep 10 at 03:58.
Maybe the "edit subquestions" menu could be modified to be able to also create breaks (with or without titles) between the defined subquestions. These newly created rows of "subquestion category titles" should not have the answer columns active, since they are only there to guide the respondent, and not to be answered.

More flexibility with hidden questions
Written by yohann the 25 Feb 11 at 12:13. Related project: 1.x all. New
The base idea is that a question should behave the same way hidden or shown.
the only thing to change should be the show/not show question for the end user.

- Javascript/jquery in a hidden question should work
- conditions should apply to the hidden question to (ie the question is either hidden, or not asked)

I'm not sure i made it very clear, i try reformulate:

the only distinction between a hidden question (always hide this question) and a "nomal" question should be the screen display.

Solution #1: Use css "display: none;" instead of not showing question
Written by yohann the 25 Feb 11 at 12:13.
This should work for "all in one page" and "group by group" survey, thought it can be more complicated for question by question survey, so the hidden question should then be added "before the next" / "after the previous" question depend if it is the first, last or a middle question and the be hidden by css.

This way the js can be executed and answer fields can be filled

New "mandatory" selection for dual scale array
Written by vierundzwanzig the 21 Nov 11 at 11:16. Global category: Question types. New
I tried using a dual scale array using mandatory question = no
"rating" | "trend" | "no answer"
The problem is that people can select something from "rating" without selecting a "trend". If I use mandatory question = yes than the participant has to answer this question.

Examples:
"rating" | "trend" | "no answer"
3 | up |" " (something from both arrays was selected)
1| " "|" " (only something from first array was selected)
" "| up |" " (only something from second array was selected)

So it would be nice to have some advanded options for specifaing what is mandatory for the dual scale array.

Solution #1: Add option "mandatory: no (but select both)"
