we are running limesurvey version 1.85+ (7337).
In questions using multiple numeric answers with sliders, sometimes we have answers that the participant can skip if they wish.
If they have clicked at all on the slider answer before deciding to skip it, however, a value is recorded. They can then slide back and forth after that but cannot go back to no value (so are in effect at that point forced to answer/have an answer value recorded).
We would like a way for participants to reset the slider value to nothing (not zero but no value) as if they had never clicked on the slider at all.

The 'exclude_all_others' attribute sould be available for any kind of Multiple
choice questions like:
P - Multiple Options with Comments
Q - Multiple short text
K - Multiple Numerical
and not just for:
?M - Multiple Options
It would be great if the 'other option' could be choosen as well to exclude all others.

I was thinking about this quite a while already. It is not always possible to do a interview online (CAWI) or via telephone (CATI). When programming is necessary CAPI comes into the game.
However, most CAPI-Tools are old and boring and additionally you have to have still another program.
However, wouldn't it be greate to be able to use Limesurvey for all those purposes. However, even with UMTS/3G it is not always possible or reliable enough to do it with a online survey tool.

When we want the respondents to provide a list of open answers, we may want to also include some coded answers. For example, when we ask about one's favorite three congressmen, we can use a "Multiple Short Text" with three subquestions to name the congressmen, but also a few precoded answers, such as "I don't have any favourite congressmen" or "I don't know any congressmen". It would look something like this:
Q1. Who are your favorite three congressmen?
1._________
2._________
3._________
8. I don't have any favorite congressmen
9. I don't know any congressmen
There is currently the possibility of using "Multiple options with comments" type of question, but the comments appear in every answer, and in my example, there would be no need for a "comment" form for answers 8 or 9.

In surveys where an array (flexible labels) question is used, sometimes the answers are the same as a previous question of the same type. It would be helpful to be able to filter out answers from one array question to the next, if the survey programmer decides the second question's answers should be dependent on the first's.
So I propose an option for the array filter attribute to be able to base off of an array (flexible labels) question type, and not just a multiple options question type.
Also, this would apply the same for Array (flexible labels) Dual Scale. We initially used this question type for a survey, and wanted to lock the second scale answers if someone selected "not applicable" in the first set of questions. So we broke out the questions into two array (flexible labels) questions, but still weren't able to get the functionality we wanted. Having the ability to filter based on other question types would provide the necessary functionality.

I am experiencing the same issue with twodifferent kinds of question:
1) I have set up a multiple numerical input question so that the people who decide to answer must distribute 100 points (%) into a few categories (equals_num_value = 100). This question is set up as not mandatory. However when one decides to skip it and go on, a warning saying that the question must be properly answered appears. In this way it is not possible to go on without answering this question, which is what I don't want. I would like people to be free to answer or not this question. Those who decide to answer must answer properly, that is they must distribute 100 points into given categories;
2) the same thing happens in a ranking question. The question is not mandatory: so the people who decide to answer must rank all the listed categories (7), while those who decide to skip it must have the chance to go on without answering.

In response to suggestions regarding my forum post #33698, I am requesting the following feature:
I would like to see an attribute for the short free text question type textbox for entering a password. Instead of seeing the password, the user would see a character such as a "dot" or an asterisk.

Hi, I will explain with an example...
In sociopolitical surveys, often we use this questions:
"Which party will you vote next sunday?"
Answers are the number of the parties and three possibility for not voting:
"I will not vote", "I will vote but I do not know which party yet", "I don't want to tell you".
I would like to display parties in random order and the "non vote" answer in fixer order.
Like this:
2 Party 2
3 Party 3
1 Party 1
...
10 Party 10
(in random order)
11 I will not vote
12 I will vote but I do not know which party yet
13 I don't want to tell you
(in fixed order)

the current way how to save any text changes in a question should be modified.
Now I need to save the modification when I exit the text editor and a second klick is reuqired to confirm modification of the question. If I do not the second klick all modifications get lost.
Right now I'm on day one of a project requiring some extended delphi type studies - meaning that I don't yet have many clues about what to do or how to do it.
Nevertheless I'm looking at Limesurvey because it appears to have all, or almost all, the parts needed to do this. However, it seems there's one capability which I don't think you have that would make a difference for this use of your product.
It's a self-modifying question type: one in which the answers available to the survey taker vary dynamically with the input from other people taking the survey - vide:
1X Our consultants are recommending biometric locks for lab and office doors as well as the supplies and components cabinets. In this context, how would you rank the alternatives listed below?
1X1 Accept consultant's recommendation
1X2 Stick to existing mechanical locks
1X3 Switch to hotel like card locks
1X4 or ? _____________________________
So someone fills in:
1X4 or? replace employee cards with the Sun Ray cards, and use them for the doors too
and now I want the next person to load the question to see the alternatives as:

New users may mistake "Question Groups" with creating a "Question."
This might confuse the user when he continues to create a question, and then realizing his first question was a group.

The base idea is that a question should behave the same way hidden or shown.
the only thing to change should be the show/not show question for the end user.
- Javascript/jquery in a hidden question should work
- conditions should apply to the hidden question to (ie the question is either hidden, or not asked)
I'm not sure i made it very clear, i try reformulate:
the only distinction between a hidden question (always hide this question) and a "nomal" question should be the screen display.

When we ask people to write expenditure for example, we would like to ask also the frequency. Ok that is possible with 2 questions, but with an important number of questions, design becomes awful.
