Drupal integration
Written by marcvangend the 5 Mar 10 at 12:20. Related project: 2.x all. New
Drupal is one of the most popular open source CMS'es, but it's not geared towards complex surveys. I think that both Drupal and Limesurvey would benefit from a Drupal-Limesurvey integration module.

Solution #1: Drupal / Limesurvey modules
Written by marcvangend the 5 Mar 10 at 12:20.
Some research needs to be done to decide what should be integrated and how that can be accomplished. I think the most important is to synchronize or share the users:
- from Limesurvey, Drupal users could be invited to fill out a survey;
- users of a Drupal site could fill out (and create?) surveys without logging in again (single sign on);
- a logged-in user could see in Drupal which surveys are available for him.

At least, a Drupal module would be needed. Depending on the architecture and API's of Limesurvey2, a module/mod/plugin/addon for Limesurvey might be needed as well.

Solution #2: iFrame
Written by hardzsi the 15 Mar 10 at 14:29.
In case of Typo3 CMS, an existing and published survey can be integrated into its frontend via iFrame technology (after installing an iFrame-enabler extension, eg. Flexform based IFrame (ffiframe)). Similar solution can exist on Drupal or other CMSs as well.

For the integration of admin part of LimeSurvey as a CMS module, i cant't see much benefit from.

It should be possible to integrate LimeSurvey via LDAP with a corporate intranet so that administrators could use their corporate password to login to the administration

New install configuration
Written by medicnick the 11 Dec 10 at 01:54. Related project: 1.x all. New
It took a while to get the configuration setup correctly involving creating dummy users so the system would send an email to the new user. If it failed, delete that user, change SMTP settings, recreate user to try again.

Solution #1: Email configuration test button
Written by medicnick the 11 Dec 10 at 01:54.
Could there be a SMTP/SendMail/Qmail/etc TEST SETTINGS button that creates a test email to the administrator (or the logged in user)?

This helps to debug any issues with SPF settings, SMTP username/server/port/password/etc issues, as well as Postini/Google Apps/spam catchers.

Thanks!

Improve User Identification at Login and Comfort
Written by hugi the 9 Nov 09 at 16:38. Related project: 1.x all. New
* Are password logins sure and deliver reliable user authentication?
* Is the one who does the login, the one he/she pretend to be?
* Are web statistics or survey results as reliable as they should be, if user is not identified according to his passport or to his identity card?
* Is it comfortable to login each time by password, as I have many of them for many web sites?

Solution #1: X.509 Certificate Login with openID support
Written by hugi the 9 Nov 09 at 16:38.
* Develop necessary script / module / software, so on top of password login is cert login with openID as well available.
* Maybe look at other web applications (wordpress, drupal, etc.) how they have realized it
* Or look at: http://wiki.cacert.org/Technology/KnowledgeBase/WebAppCertLogin/dotProject
* I admit, I am a CAcert.org Community Member, so you say, I have a conflict of interests. ;-)

Solution #1: sign-up
Written by markonix the 24 Sep 10 at 21:20.
Example:
http://demo.limesurvey.org/admin/admin.php

Forgot your password? || Not accouny yet

or

Forgot your password? || Sign-up and create own survey

Next form with:
username, e-mail, etc,
Script send password to e-mail and it's all.
People can rigister on site and make own surveys.

I have made my own script but it would be great if it were a function of the system.

Missing admin interface brute force protection
Written by iboguev the 15 Mar 10 at 07:41. Related project: 1.x all. New
Hi,

I am using LimeSurvey to capture and store some relatively sensitive/interesting data. I am a bit concerned that the application doesn't provide (as far as I am aware) any built in features that will discourage potential admin login brute force attacks.

Solution #1: Security Enhancement - admin interface brute force protection
Written by iboguev the 15 Mar 10 at 07:41.
It would be great if some sort of brute force admin interface password guessing prevention mechanism is put in place. Examples of it would be to have the attacked account locked out for X minutes after a number of failed authentication attempts are detected.

Or the authentication process can be automatically delayed with XX seconds if a brute force attack is detected. This will be enough to slowdown an attacker to a level where the brute force attack would not be feasible. This can be combined with password complexity rules and will have minimal user impact.

An additional feature can be to send an email alert to the admin if brute force attack is detected.

I am launching a survey open to a broad group in which all have a corporate email.

It would be interesting can to filter access to survey automatically sending the acces link to survey only at the people who register with our corporate email (example: any@myfactory.com).

SSLencrypted Adminlogin without enforcing SSLencrypted access to the surveys
Written by jelo the 26 Apr 10 at 15:16. Related project: 1.x all. New

The setting of $rooturl = "http://$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] only allows you to set https or http . No casewise SSLencryption.

Often installations are using selfsigned certs which will produce cryptic messages beside adding load when just delivering surveys to respondents.

A workaround is leaving the $rooturl empty. But that is causing problems with e.g. links in emails incorrect.

To use rewrite url routine of the webserver is another.

Solution #1: Offer a separate admin url in the config.php
Written by jelo the 26 Apr 10 at 15:16.

With the separate admin url setting the SSL can be enforced when loggin in without causing any problems on the frontend side.

Check if server meet requirements (in general and bounce tracking specific)
Written by lovepade the 8 Nov 11 at 20:38. Global category: Authentication. New
As per this http://www.limesurvey.org/forum/design-issues/68358-bounce-tracking-settings?li mit=10&start=10&lang=en#68675 and this http://www.limesurvey.org/forum/design-issues/68358-bounce-tracking-settings?li mit=10&start=10&lang=en#68676.

The bounce tracking feature is extremely neet, cool and "how did I live without this"... But a few of us have had problems getting it to work. Most likely because the php5-imap module is not part of a standard php install

Solution #1: Test for met requirements
Written by lovepade the 8 Nov 11 at 20:38.
Making a small test - either at runtime, or when the bounce tracking is activated, would most likely solve some future issues.

If I was told by LS that, "LS can find the php impa module needed for bounce tracking to work. Please install this module before proceeding", life would have been easier.
dataguru suggests a more general list all requirements function "It would be nice if LS had a button to list all relevant system parameters required by the bug tracker."

Different groups of users for the same survey
Written by lfortunato the 16 Nov 11 at 19:20. Global category: Authentication. New
Hi!

I try to explain my problem, already exposed in the section 'Can I do this with Limesurvey?' (Topic 'Users with registration and users with token assigned').

I have two groups of users for the same survey: one group have to registrate before partecipating the survey.
So I need to set "Allow public registration" = Y
This case works well: registration, email sent to the user, and access to the survey (user ignore which is the token assigned to him).

Other users have a personal token to access the same survey, but the admin hasn't the name, surname and email of each user. The admin can only configure tokens for these users, and a specific organization will distribute the tokens to users who do the request. Also the organization have not the name, surname and email of the user.

So, the "Allow public registration" = Y doesn't fit to this second case. In fact the user who has the personal token can access the survey entering his token, and without registering or receiving an email.

Already implemented something for this situation?

Thanks!

Solution #1: More ways to access the same survey
Written by lfortunato the 16 Nov 11 at 19:20.

"Allow public registration" = Y
mustn't exclude the standard access to the survey, for example if an user has already a token.

Thank you for your work on LS!...

Re enable access to response for respondant on demand
Written by gjaouen the 10 Jun 11 at 18:20. Global category: Authentication. New
Hello,

I'm used to manage lots of surveys with LS.

My practice of on-line surveys show me that users often make mistakes during survey completion as sending the answers before they fulfill all the survey as they wanted to.

It will be great if the admin of the survey could re enable access to a specific response for a specific user.

I think it could be implemented by allowing the admin to create new saved session for those users based on ID response.

What would you think of such idea ?

Best regards,
Guillaume JAOUEN.

Solution #1: The way to do it
Written by gjaouen the 10 Jun 11 at 18:20.
Proccess :

1 Login as admin of the survey
2 Go to saved responses
3 Click on a new fonction to "create new saved session for respondent".
4 Enter the ID of the response that need to go back in save mode enter a user name/password and validate.
5 the script then can create a new scid entry in the table and send the notification directly to the respondent in order to re enable him to fulfill it's previous answer.

An user can not be granted the right to give other users rights of a survey
Written by ChrisE the 5 Dec 11 at 16:06. Global category: Authentication. New
At the moment only super admins or the owner of the survey can modify the survey permissions.
If user A creates a survey and gives user B all rights to modify the survey, user B can not add other users to modify the survey. When user A goes on holidays and an other user (C) should get the rights to modify the survey, the admin have to be asked to do that.

Resend invitation link for users
Written by anthonydispezio the 6 Dec 10 at 19:23. Related project: 1.x all. New
The ability to implement a link allowing users to have their survey invitation resent to their email.

I run a token-based ballot that handles thousands of entries, collecting emails and usernames. This is the problem:

When a user returns to the page without completing, they often try to re-enter their information, presenting them with the "email is already registered" alert.

or

A user deletes their invitation email and no longer has access to the ballot.

PS. If this already exists in some way, please contact me at bigshipstudios@gmail.com

Solution #1: Resend invitation link
Written by anthonydispezio the 6 Dec 10 at 19:23.
Perhaps there should be a link available on the sign-up page (or when the "already registered" alert appears) which takes the user to a "lost my invitation" page.

That page should consist of an email field (for the user to re-enter their email address) and a form submit button. Feedback should be thus:

If the user is already registered, a new invitation (or even the reminder invitation) would be sent to their email, allowing them access to the ballot.

If the user is not registered, there is feedback explaining so and providing the user with the form to sign-up for the survey normally.

Perhaps in the back-end there could be an incremental column on the token page showing how many times a user has requested the invitation.
